Now that Wonder Woman is out and considered a big success, it's time for Warner Bros. to begin considering the possibilities for a sequel. Sure, the film only came out last week, but by the looks of it, both critics and audiences are loving it, not to mention it's a huge box-office success!

Gal Gadot brought personality to the character of , and Patty Jenkins (Director) pulled us into a film that largely exceeded expectations. Although most of the success can be attributed to the scriptwriters, producers, actors, director, etc., we can't forget that it wouldn't be a true superhero film without a good villain!

Head's up! This article contains spoilers for Wonder Woman, so if you haven't seen the movie, proceed with caution.

David Thewlis did an excellent job of portraying the primary antagonist, and his performance did much to boost an already awesome movie! But after the climactic battle between Ares and Wonder Woman, one is left with the strong impression that Ares is very much dead. So, what now? Without David Thewlis's Ares to antagonize our superpowered heroine, who will be able to step in to fill those shoes? Here are three possible villains for the next Wonder Woman movie.

1. Apollo

In Greek mythology, Apollo is the god of the sun, music, poetry, oracles and healing. He is the son of Zeus and the half brother of Wonder Woman. This alone makes him a powerful adversary. Like his fictional father, he has a strong desire to rule. Because of this he often tries to overthrow Zeus and assume the throne. Wonder Woman is often pitted against him, and has often thwarted his plans for world domination. Who could play him?

How about Liam Neeson? With films under his belt such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Clash of the Titans, and more, he is no stranger to mythical action movies. He would be the perfect fit for a more older and rugged-looking Apollo, and a believable adversary for Wonder Woman.

2. First Born

Little is known about the first son of Zeus; so little, in fact, that he has no name. What do we know? Well, for one, he is one of Wonder Woman's most aggressive and brutal foes. His ruthlessness took him on a path to destroy the gods of Olympus. If it wouldn't have been for Wonder Woman, he might have succeeded!

Who could play the ruthless firstborn of Zeus? How about Gerard Butler? Known for intense action movies that often require fierce characters, who else could play such an intense and brutal villain? Just look at 300 or Law Abiding Citizen!

3. Cheetah

One of Wonder Woman's more popular villains, Cheetah has been a constant thorn in Diana's side. In the New 52, Cheetah goes by the name of Barbara Ann Minerva. She is incredibly powerful and her claws are sharp enough to cut even Superman. She often works with other supervillains and has caused many problems for Wonder Woman. It would also be nice to see a female villain in a female superhero movie.

Who might be able to play one of Wonder Woman's greatest foes? How about Cate Blanchett? Acting in films such as Lord of the Rings, Thor: Ragnarok and Robin Hood, it's hard to argue that she can't handle playing a strong-willed character. Perhaps Thor: Ragnarok will give us more insight into whether or not she can play a convincing villain.

What do you think? Is there any villain on this list that shouldn't be? If so, who do you think should have been included? Make sure to comment below and if you haven't already, go see Wonder Woman!
