Now that your New Year's Eve hangover has finally worn off, it's time to dive into 2017 the same way Frodo rambled off on his journey through Middle Earth — full of hope, and blissfully unaware of Mount Doom on the horizon.

Well, it looks like 2017 has your back this January, because there are several insanely awesome movies being released this month that will help you settle into winter and help you start the year off right. From heartwarming true stories to blistering new sequels, warm your cockles with these eight movies, all released this January.

'Hidden Figures'

Starring Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monét and Taraji P. Henson, Hidden Figures follows the incredible true story of three African-American women who were the brains behind one of NASA's biggest achievements: launching astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Buzz around Hidden Figures has been building for a while, thanks to its stellar cast and remarkable true story.

'Split'

  • Released: January 20, 2017

I had not heard of M. Night Shyamalan's Split until I stumbled upon the trailer last month, and man, does it look like all kinds of crazy! Starring James McAvoy as a man with 23 different personalities, Split is a thriller with a twist. Let's hope Shyamalan can recreate some of his former magic when hits US theaters January 20.

'The Founder'

Kate Beckinsale reprises her role as Selene in the fifth installment of the Underworld franchise, . The Lycan clan and Vampire faction are trapped in an eternal war, trying to obtain the blood of Selene and her daughter — all the while, Selene is trying to end this war for good.

'A Monster Calls'

  • Released: January 6, 2017 (General release)

Fresh off the back of Rogue One, Felicity Jones returns to the big screen in A Monster Calls, based on the fantasy children's novel by David Ness. Based in-part on a true story, Lewis MacDougall stars as Conor O'Malley, an 8-year-old boy dealing with his mother's (Felicity Jones) terminal illness and endless harassment from a local bully. One day Conor meets a "monster," a giant humanoid Yew tree who helps Conor fix his unhappy circumstances.

'xXx: The Return of Xander Cage'

  • Released: January 20, 2017

10 years after the release of the less-than-exemplary xXx: State of Union, Vin Diesel's badass daredevil undercover agent Xander "Triple X" Cage returns to movie theaters this January in : The Return of Xander Cage. The blisteringly explosive trailer has everything you need to get your heart racing — Vin flying through the jungle on skis, four evil (yet sexy) villains trying to save (?) the world, and shamelessly hitting on — and Nina Dobrev loving every bit of it. Take my money!

'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter'

  • Released: January 27, 2017

Of all the movies that released this Jan, the final installment of the franchise is the one I am most hyped for. Alice returns to Raccoon City for one final showdown against the globe-destroying Umbrella Corp., and brings her pals Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and Abigail (Ruby Rose) along for the ride. I am literally vibrating with excitement!

With a 2016 filled with celebrity deaths, a turbulent election season and the promise of an uncertain future, this lineup of badass movies definitely kicks 2017 off in style — let's hope the rest of the year is just as awesome!
