Whip out your lightsabers and fire up the hype machine, because Star Wars is preparing target its Death Star laser at the box office takings yet again. That galaxy far, far away is certainly getting bigger, and aside from the ongoing Skywalker trilogies, Lucasfilm is apparently keen focus its efforts on expanding that already expansive universe.

With the (not so) surprising announcement that the next anthology movie will focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi, it appears that Sith Lord Kathleen Kennedy has another secret hiding up her robes. If chronicling the life of a young or his exile into becoming Old Ben wasn't exciting enough, now plans on adding two more films to the sci-fi slate of adventures.

Place Your Fetts

Around the news of Obi-Wan, The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that another two fan-favorite characters are getting their own time to shine like a supernova in Star Wars. As the site reports, both and are a midichlorian away from having their own spin-offs:

"The Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone is one of several projects being developed by Lucasfilm and Disney that fall outside the trilogies telling the saga of the Skywalker family. A Han Solo movie is now in the final stages of shooting under new director Ron Howard and Lucasfilm is also looking at movies featuring Yoda and bounty hunter Boba Fett, among others."

Someone must've used a Jedi mind trick, because that abandoned Boba Fett film is tentatively back in action. Remembering a dark day for the Resistance in 2015, director Josh Trank had the rug pulled from beneath him just moments before the Boba feature was officially announced. Thanks mainly to Trank's dire job on Fant4stic, Lucasfilm canned the project ahead of schedule.

Since then, there has been a big question mark on whether the bounty hunter would get to fly his jet pack into his own solo film, but the tides could be changing. Interestingly, the whole Boba story could open the door to a huge corner of untapped Star Wars potential. With ties to the criminal underworld and a certain well-known Hutt, Boba Fett could finally give us the gritty crime caper that the galaxy is crying out for!

Elsewhere, a Yoda spin-off has been rumored for as long as that little green puppet has been on our screens, so it is no surprise that Disney are keen to focussing on one of its most marketable characters. That being said, do we really need to see more of the Jedi Master? Almost appearing in as many of the "main" films as those delinquent droids R2 and 3PO, you can't help but feel that Yoda's story has already been largely told. Having particularly major parts in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, how many more times can you see that CGI elf flip through the air before you get bored? Also, I don't know about you, but Yoda's shadowy past has always been part of his allure. I don't really want to unravel the mystery of Yoda's garbled speech, and some things are best left as an intergalactic puzzler.

That being said, with both Boba and Yoda having reams of stories across books, comics, and various TV series, at least there is plenty of source material to pluck from. However, those pesky Star Wars anthology films do have something of an unspoken curse placed on them though. The dark side of the Force is strong in the spin-offs, with Rogue One undergoing major reshoots before it hit cinemas and more problems that you can shake a wookie at on Ron Howard's upcoming . We have already seen Fett fail once, so let's hope that it is smooth sailing across the deserts of Tatooine for Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Boba Fett.
