Marvel announced today that Robert Downey Jr. has agreed to star in two more films. Those films will be Marvel's The Avengers 2 and Marvel's The Avengers 3.
For a while, Downey and Marvel were under re-negotiations. There have also been reports of cast members wanting $100 million each, and a cut of the profit.
Downey's payment is undisclosed at this time, but it is probably something near or higher than the $50 million he received for the Avengers.
The Avengers 2 will be released in 2015. The superhero sequel will be directed by Joss Whedon.
Marvel fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Downey Jr.'s most recent Marvel film was Iron Man 3, which is now the fifth-highest grossing movie of all time.
Iron Man 4 is nowhere to be found on the deal, which sadly means that Iron Man 3 is the last solo film with Downey Jr. There is still a chance that Downey renews his contract after The Avengers 3, but that is highly unlikely.
Robert Downey Jr. can next be seen in The Judge, due in theaters next year.
