When the Perron family move to an old house in the country, they call upon Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren after a series of terrifying events occur in their home.

The Conjuring is this year's latest offering of horror. Is it a steaming pile of crap or does it create one?

First let's take a trip down memory lane, seeing as this is brought to us from the guys responsible for Insidious, Saw and The House of Wax and let's not forget the creepy disaster that was Dead Silence.

James, you gotta stop making movies which feature creepy ass dolls.

Remember this? (Kinda already regret using this image... little bit freaked out now).

ANYWAY, back to the point - These guys are responsible for bringing us films which have succeeded in scaring many of us. I, however, hated Insidious.

It was the biggest pile of crap I think I have witnessed. Seriously, what was with that? It was stupid, it featured gas masks, and i think Darth Maul was featured in the wrong film...

The only thing the movie had going for it was its actors and the creepy music. You can imagine my reaction when i saw that the same guy was behind the making of the conjuring, so yes i was very cynical when I saw the posters. In fact I went into the cinema preparing to be seriously let down.

Horrors these days are not scary, they're funny and ridiculous. It's the same old story, there's a party, sluts and drunk guys who stumble (literally) across something which then leads to one of them realising that they are going down a bad path and a way for them to redeem themselves is to tackle some big scary ghost.

No. Just. no. You don't stay at the party, you leave. You go home, you put on a happy film and try to forget about the nights events. You do not try and fight, cause you will just die.

But...The Conjuring was fantastically freaky. Hallelujah!!

It was terrifying. Apologies for the hype, but it honestly was. I was impressed. I did not expect to sit like an infant or hide behind my hands, I expected to laugh and mock.

The film was very well written and the acting was superb. The only fault i would give is that it starts off kind of slow.

So, if you and your friends want a good scare, i highly recommend you go see this film. Even if you don't believe in the supernatural you are guaranteed to jump at some point. In fact i wanted to surrender towards the end, the suspense is hateful. The music creeps up on you, your eyes adjust to the darkness and BOOM, you've peed your pants.

If that isn't enough for you, it is based on true events. The Warren's are real people, Lorraine is still alive. Lorraine and 'Andrea Perron' even served as consultants to director James Wan and the screenwriters. (sounds like a band). They both claim the movie is accurate to the real story of what happened to the Perrons during the 10-years they lived in the farmhouse (Why anyone would stay in a house like that for 10 years is beyond me).

Hands down the best horror film i have seen in a while and it doesn't rely on violence.

The sequel has been confirmed, I just hope it's not a let down.

Will you go see it?
