Sherlock Holmes; A Slight Trick of the Mind (author Mitch Cullin) tells the story of an old Holmes around the year of 1947, as he is starting to lose his memory. He lives with a house keeper and her son, who becomes the recipient of his old stories about adventures and cases that dared everyone’s minds to be solved, before he forgets them himself. As he walks through life with the help of a cane and he goes around telling stories, he starts to remember pieces of a case from 50 years ago that involved a man and his wife, with who, appears to have had a secret bond.

This new adaptation of the enigmatic character will be directed by Bill Condon, and who has already worked before with Ian McKellen on the movie drama Gods and Monsters.

McKellen is one iconic actor who has brought to the screen many wonderful characters, from the historic ones as James Whale in Gods and Monsters, to the fantastic mutant Magneto in X-Men.

What do you think? Will he fit into the role of mischievous and ironic Mister Holmes? I admire personally his work in many movies but in this role in particular, I am starting to have second thoughts.

Approximate date for this movie is during 2015 with no specific dates yet.
