Will Smith, whose credits includes the Men in Black franchise, I,Robot, and (sigh) Hancock, is apparently in talks to reprise his role in ID Forever, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 90's hit Independence Day.
A while back, Roland Emmerich spoke about the sequel, and the possibility of Will Smith's involvement, but apparently the answer was no at the time.
"I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn't want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen."
But perhaps it is just a cameo role at the beginning so they can kill him off and bring some new faces to the screen. This is coming off the heels of Smith's most recent film, After Earth, bombing at the box office.
But....could ID Forever be Will Smith's great comeback? Sure he had the third Men in Black film but that wasn't a substantial comeback. I will answer the question with Emmerich's words: Anything can happen...and maybe a standalone article sometime in the future when the casting is officially confirmed.
