We all saw Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers. most of us really liked the way he portrayed Bruce Banner. And I'm sure many of us are hoping that Marvel's tentative phase 3 hulk movie becomes a reality. The question is, how? who could be the villain, what plotline could they use, how could they make it work with the rest of the Marvel universe?

First off, the plotline. I think there's one story that most of us would love to see on the big screen, and that's Planet Hulk. I think we can all agree that this is one of the most interesting of Hulk stories. For those of you who don't know, Planet Hulk is a story about how a group called the Illuminati decide the Hulk is too dangerous to leave on Earth, and trick banner into a spaceship, and launch him out into the stars. The spaceship ends up on a planet called Sakaar, ruled by a tyrant called The Red King. The Hulk is enslaved as a gladiator, and eventually leads the people of Sakaar to freedom.

This would work great as a movie. It's got a strong plot, tons of interesting characters, and plenty of action. The Red King is a classic despicable villain, perfect for screen. The hulk gains a group of followers called his Warbound, all of whom are cool characters it would be great to see on-screen. One of the warbound is an alien called a Kronan, who we saw a subtle hint to in the Thor 2 Trailer.

More importantly, it could work into the universe in really interesting ways. Originally, Tony Stark is one of the men who decide to launch the hulk. We all know that Tony is creating Ultron for Avengers 2. What if Ultron causes Banner to lose control, to go on a rampage? What if Tony, already haunted by the fact that his creation tried to wipe out humanity, blames himself for the hulk? He decides to launch the Hulk into Space, and convinces the other avengers/SHIELD. Once in space, more possibilities open up. You provide space for a Guardians of the Galaxy work in. Since Marvel couldn't use the silver surfer, he could be replaced with Drax, or even Beta Ray Bill like in the animated movie. Thanos himself is also out in space somewhere. What if he sees what happens? what if he helps the Hulk return to earth later, as a way to sow chaos on earth, leading to a World War Hulk/Avengers 3 combo? The possibilities are amazing.

We've seen Thunderbolt Ross twice. We've seen the abomination already. I feel that Red Hulk wouldn't be different enough from the abomination on-screen. We might still have The Leader. We saw the weird combination of Absorbing man and Zzzax. We need something new, something different. Planet Hulk could deliver that, and give us a true hero story for the Hulk.
