A pair of The Warriors Three get their Thor: The Dark World character sheets: Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) and Fandral (Zachary Levi). Hogun ( played by the Johnny Depp/Toshiro Mifune looking acting hybrid Tadanobu Asano) no doubt will be following soon.
Ray Stevenson is reprising his Volstagg from the first Thor. His love for battle and skill with his trusty old battleaxe are still there. So, no doubt, will his tendency to stress eat when things get dicey. And with the stakes higher in Thor 2, expect Volstagg to both ream a score of Dark Elves and gain a few Norse "punds" or two between battles.
Josh Dallas played Fandral in the first Thor, but his "Charming" obligations to ABC series Once Upon a Time keeps him from repeating the role. So director Alan Taylor brought in Chuck series star Zachary Levi, who was originally cast in the role but had to drop out because of his Chuck-ian obligations. Weird how the twisted fingers of Norns (Norse Gods of fate) works.
Thor: The Dark World opens like the posters say, October 30th.
