According to Deadline, The Mountain Between Us has just experienced a change of director.

Hany Abu-Assad, mainly known for directing the lauded Palestinian drama Paradise Now, is in talks to take over the directing reigns from Miss Bala helmer Gerardo Naranjo.

The Mexican filmmaker meanwhile is prepping the remake of the Charles Bronson vigilante-classic Death Wish.

As both filmmakers seem inspiring choices for the survival romance set in the Colorado wilderness, I, personally, see no problems directing-wise.

Worrying, however, is the fact that Deadline doesn't mention the participation of leading man Michael Fassbender anywhere in the report.

The star has one hell of a schedule in front of him (Macbeth, Assassin's Creed, Genius, etc...) and just might have jumped ship...
