The first posters for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac have the 14 stars simulating their best orgasmic face. Some of the method actors look a little too into their roles, leaving one wondering what was the method of stimulation. Some of the more classically trained ones just open their mouth and let it fly.
And there is Shia LaBeouf, too cool and detached to be bothered with such post coital dirty thoughts or face .
Von Trier is the provocateur of cinema and goes out of his way to shock the maximum number of people possible. The Cannes Film Festival has banned him indefinitely for comments regarding how he fully sympathized with and understood Hitler. Don't expect Von Trier to be invited to any posh fundraising parties anytime soon.
Critics are evenly split on whether his work is pretentiously boring or cinematic genius. This critic puts Von Trier in the pretentious bore category.
The two-part, five-hour Nymphomaniac stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe, a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who recounts her life story to Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), an old, charming bachelor who finds Joe beaten up in an alley.
