Meet Evan Lee, Moviepilot contributor, passionate movie fan, comic book enthusiast and star Hollywood writer/director (in training).
1. Tell us who you are and what brought you to contributing at Moviepilot?
Right off the bat lol, Evan is my first name but Lee isn't my last name. Lee is a nickname given to me because I was a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner and Dutch kickboxer. I'm not sure what year of the summer but I know during the fall I would've been a sophomore in highschool. Anyways, I would always play football with my friends and one of my friends (Mike) has a little cousin that found out I was a fighter. So one day the little smart ass asked me "could you kick my ass?" (mind you he's only 10-years old!) To get to the point, one day I was hitting the pads and the little smart ass (lol joking) wanted to hold the pads...so I kicked it hard enough that his sandals were still in the same position and he was laying on his back barefoot. Ever since then, the kid and everyone else kept calling me Lee through the summer and high school (short for Bruce Lee). Lol, it's such a dumb story!
Over all I talk way too much! I'm sorry! I'm just a loving, easy going dude and I enjoy talking to people and having fun! Moviepilot is fun because it doesn't feel like work, I genuinely enjoy typing articles and trying to progress myself as time goes by is always great. I'm just a young dude that enjoys what he does and one day I'll be one of the best screenwriters/film directors. If I can make my voice be heard just by typing, then that's perfect for me! I don't do this for the money or materialistic value, I honestly want legend status, haha. I'm not even joking, when I'm long gone I want people still talking about me and I simply want to make history. And of course make my mother and and father proud.
2. Tell us about your favorite movies and genres. Do you have an all time favorite?
You guys are slick! Oh jeez...I don't know! I love horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and adventure...comedies, documentaries on the past or present. I don't have a favorite because every movie genre has awesome and terrible films. I guess I can watch Batman (1989), Excalibur (1981), Rob Roy, Troy, Taken, All 3 Lord Of The Rings, Predator 1&2, Aliens, Monsters Inc, Iron Man, Halloween, all the Jason Voorhees movies, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bio-Dome, all Star Wars, The Ghost and the Darkness and toss up between Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. I love UK comedies (Guy Ritchie is the man). I love too many movies so next question!
3. If you could interview anybody in the world for Moviepilot, who would it be?
I feel like all of you are messing with me?! Am I going to get the chance to interview them? (*cough, cough* that would be great!) I would interview Kevin Smith and Idris Elba. Too many people on my list, next!
4. Which movies are you most excited to see in 2014 and why?
(Grabs 15 notebooks that are filled with movies) Hahaha, seriously I'm excited about 300: Rise of an Empire...I mean it's 300 people! Captain America: The Winter Soldier (*looks up at the stars... if only I had super strength, a bad-ass shield and got to make out with Scarlett Johansson*) The Amazing Spider-Man 2, please lord don't let Jamie Foxx screw this up for us, so many nerds don't like the "black" Human Torch. He or she is a giant mutant iguana with a cat face...Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past, simply watching it for the hype up from fans. I think Like A Man was funny as hell! So now they're having a sequel! Last is the new Transformers for obvious reasons:"Robots in disguise." There are more but I'm typing way too much...NEXT!
5. Who would play you in a movie of your life? A hero or a villain?
Pfft, Tiger Woods, Idris Elba, Christian Bale and you always need Liam Neeson because... it's Liam Neeson. Lmao! I want Liam playing me and there's a scene I'm asking a girl out to prom on the phone. (Scary voice)
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills: skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."
"If you let my daughter go now....(then the girl cuts me off.) And says "you don't have a daughter?!" I reply back in Christian Bale Bat voice "I'm Evan!"
...Then hangs up. I would so be a hero at first but then go all rogue with killing villains because I would be just like old school Batman ;) Lol, thanks for interview!
