LEGOs are the classic building toy. They are a fun way to pass the time and build whatever your heart may desire (within the limits of the building physics). LEGOs have spawned video games based off of major IPs, such as Batman, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. LEGO has also released movies based on these. However, LEGO is returning once again with a new original movie; I cannot be more excited. Although never being a proud owner of LEGOs, I find them so fascinating, which only makes me want to see this movie more.
The first reason I really want to watch this movie is simply nostalgia. Although I never did own LEGOs personally, my relatives had a box of LEGOs at their beach house that I used in all of my down time there. That box has provided me with some great memories. Seeing LEGOs on the big screen will make me think of that box for sure.
The second reason is the incredible cast of voice actors and their respective characters. The LEGO Movie features an INCREDIBLE lineup of actors. Channing Tatum, Morgan Freeman, Jonah Hill, Cobie Smulders, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell, Chris Pratt, and Elizabeth Banks are just the start. There are a lot more, including Will Arnett as Batman. Speaking of Will Arnett as Batman, we can already tell that he is going to do a great job voice acting Batman. He really owns it in the few scenes we've seen from the trailers. It is also great to see a combination of custom characters and IP characters, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern.
The third and final reason is the humor. These two trailers have made me crack up each time I watch them. The humor surrounding the character of Emmett is great. His laid back, non-attentive attitude really contrasts with the widely different attitudes of the various MasterBuilders. There also seems to be a ton of humor revolving around the Dark Knight himself as well as the Bad Cop, voiced by Liam Neeson. Even though these are my big three, you also have to include the stellar animation that this movie seems to contain. Overall, I cannot wait to see the LEGO Movie and I hope you check it out as well!
