Catching Fire is a rarity, a blockbuster sequel that’s an improvement over its predecessor in pretty much every aspect.

Francis Lawrence expands on Gary Ross’s vision and doesn’t sacrifice depth for spectacle; there’s plenty of both.

Clocking in at 146 minutes, this film never ceases to entertain, always looks fantastic and it’s performed by a talented cast, to which Philip Seymour Hoffman is a welcome addition.

Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone and Stanley Tucci stand out among the supporting players, but it’s all about Jennifer Lawrence, of course.

I think that if, by know, you don’t have a bit of a crush on the immensely talented, gorgeous and humble actress, there’s something inherently wrong with you and I don’t want to be your friend.
