It has been confirmed. Hollywood actors Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska are set to reprise their roles for Alice in Wonderland 2. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, the one and only lost boy who refuses to grew up is returning to the big screen for a new adventure in Pan. Hold onto your seats, there’s still more. Deadline has reported that Jon Favreau is in talks to direct a new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic adventure novel The Jungle Book.
It’s no secret that Hollywood knows our Achilles Heel, so when it goes about feeding us with what we are accustomed to, we shouldn’t always complain. We may not have a roof over our heads (that star-clustered backdrop is a beauty), but at least we never go hungry. So, what's on the menu?
“Second to the right, and straight on till morning.” Usually, I’m the first in queue where Peter Pan is involved, but with the less than satisfying outcomes of past adaptations, I’m not so quick on my feet these days. However, word has it that Hollywood has three Pan projects in development. With everyone so eager to grip their hooks into the boy wonder, let’s hope the bait catches the fish this time.
Alice In Wonderland 2
The 2010 film didn’t tickle my fancy, but it did speak wonders at the box office grossing over $1 billion worldwide, so a sequel didn’t come as a surprise. What will it be that draws our heroine back to that mystical rabbit hole? I wonder where we’re going to land now, Alice.
The Jungle Book
Hollywood really knows how to churn out those childhood classics. At this rate, there will be nothing left for us to fantasise about. If the 1994 adaptation is anything to go by, we should prepare ourselves for possible tears of sorrow. Hey, maybe it will be great, but I won’t hold my breath.
So, which one of these classics are you looking forward to seeing?
