Roll - roll - roll - roll,
roll - roll - rolling down the hole!
Heave ho! splash plump!
Down they go, down they bump!
-J.R.R Tolkien, page.181, The Hobbit.
I can't watch this trailer enough!
I know how many posts there are complaining of Peter Jackson's changes plus adding his own character, but I can't help but admire how beautifully he portrayed Tolkien's Middle-Earth. The level of detail is outstanding. Being a huge LotR fan myself (and gone through the appendixes, reading The Silmarillion, and studying his imaginative languages) I am impatient to get into that theater!
None of us can know whether J.R.R Tolkien would or wouldn't have liked Peter's changes, but I think they only help out the story rather than hinder it. J.R.R Tolkien was a professor first and a writer second, I think with his very learned and exquisite mind, that he would have accepted the need for a female character, and that Legolas's appearance only makes sense due to heritage. I solely believe that Peter Jackson loves these stories or else why go through all the trouble of learning everything about them? We certainly seen plenty of directors do book adaptions and clearly never have read the books. I have utmost faith in him.
But enough about that, who is just as excited for Friday, December 13th, as I? Will you be going to the midnight premiere or the opening weekend?
