So many nerd feels I get from this show now. It’s dawn of the metahuman age on ‘Arrow’ and I hardly know where to begin. The mid-season finale for the CW’s Emerald Archer is so packed with reveals, flashbacks and superhumanly goodness, it really must be Christmas time!
First of all, let’s talk about the man, “born on a Monday.” If you don’t know (or haven’t googled it yet), the chemically juiced ‘Brother Cyrus’ has a last name too, Cyrus Gold. DC Comic nerds like myself have been waiting for three weeks since episode 7 (Queen vs. State) for his more common alias to be revealed - Solomon Grundy!
That’s right. Cyrus Gold may soon be the biggest, meanest, superhuman dead guy in the DC Universe and one of the earliest depictions of zombies in comic books (suck it, Walking Dead.)
Then there’s the other metahuman I was expecting to see soon - Slade Wilson. I called for a real-time Deathstroke 'the Terminator' attack on Ollie’s world a few weeks ago, but for him to escape from flashback island and become the ‘Big Bad’ behind Brother Blood? Epic.
Of course, everyone was expecting to see Barry Allen (aka The Flash) get zapped via origin story, but this might be the last we see of him until he gets his own show next year. He’s not getting a back door pilot on ‘Arrow’ anymore.
And what the heck are they doing to Roy Harper? Are Showrunners skipping past the whole Speedy/ sidekick stage for him and going straight for making him into Arsenal? Technically, Roy is now (unexpectedly) a metahuman too. Why do I get the feeling everyone and their grandma is about to get a needle full of that green goo? That’s fine by me. Where do I sign up?
