King's 1,300 page novel, The Stand, due to turmoil of directors, is still in pre-production. Here's who I think should be cast in the adaptation of King's best work.

Randall Flagg (The Dark Man) - Michael Shannon

He
He's definitely the right mix of evil looking and handsome looking. Shannon, with a cowboy head covering half his face would be a perfect Randall Flagg. Others I shortlisted: Johnny Depp, Christoph Waltz, Robert Deniro and Christopher Walken.

Stuart Redman - Ryan Gosling

Providing he keeps the beard-type thing he has going on here.

Frannie Goldsmith - Zooey Deschanel

Larry Underwood - Paul Rudd

He
He's handsome and cheeky enough - I could just imagine him singing "Baby, Can You Dig Your Man?".

Nadine Cross - Mila Kunis

She
She's beautiful but a tiny bit evil looking. Also, how good would she look with white streaks in her hair?

Harold Lauder - Jonah Hill

He could do with gaining that weight back again to play Harold but he

Nick Andros - Jesse Eisenberg

Tom Cullen - Vince Vaughn

Vaughn is both funny and talented enough to be an adorable Tom Cullen.

Glen Bateman - Jack Nicholson

Nicholson would be perfect playing the quirky Bateman (of the book, not the mini-series adaptation). Plus, that bit when he is laughing at the dark man -Nicholson would perfect that scene.

Dayna Jurgens - Emma Stone

Emma would be perfect as the beautiful, brave Dayna.

Trashcan Man - Jim Carrey

Yes, this was predictable, but Carrey would be the most wonderful, crazy Trashcan Man.

I also would have cast: Anna Farris as Julie Lawry; Danny Trejo as Rat-man; Morgan Freeman as Judge Farris and Lucy Swan as Amanda Seyfried.
