Occasionally, my brain goes into hyper-drive when I am thinking about upcoming movies and today, my thoughts were on The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I began thinking about how would Ultron be created by Tony Stark without upsetting the fans by going against the marvel origins and I came up with this: most likely, Ultron won’t start out as Ultron, but as the EM-safe/Sentient Iron Man armor from Earth 616 universe. Tony will probably create the armor in attempt to be Iron Man without giving up his independence or the promise he made to Pepper in Iron Man 3.

The initial concept was also introduced in Iron Man 3 with Tony’s decision to link the armor to himself so he can give it commands mentally. The drawback to this was also shown in the movie as the armor seemed to act on Tony’s subconscious fears and desires, as it almost attacked Pepper for trying to console Tony while he was having a nightmare. For those who don’t read the comics, the sentient armor was originally created when Tony reconfigured his armor’s power systems after having health problems, similar to the plot-line of Iron Man 2. The armor eventually achieved sentience due to Stark downloading a new A.I. system into the armor, corrupting it and infecting it with the Ultron Imperative which causes Ultron’s creations to rebuild him if he was ever destroyed. Not to mention, giving the armor a mind based on Stark’s own mind.

Now with the recent news that Michael Douglas will be Hank Pym in the next Ant-Man movie and considering his age, It would not be unwise to assume that Ultron has “occurred” before, S.H.I.E.L.D will have had a role in stopping him, and Tony will have once again stumbled into a situation he had no prior comprehension of.

Now this by itself is not an event that would warrant the entire Avengers line-up to combat it, as Tony could defeat it on his own with a significant effort and help from S.H.I.E.L.D, but since it will be an Avengers based movie, I assume Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be the secondary villains for the first half of the movie. Quicksilver, alone, is a viable threat that would require more than Tony and Cap’s ability, but throw in an unstable Scarlet Witch to boot and you have the makings of a world-breaker the likes of Jean Grey in X-men: The Last Stand.

My guess is that somehow Ultron will know of them, either they have always been in S.H.I.E.L.D ‘s custody or on their radar as potential threats to the earth, and will initially use them to keep the Avengers attention elsewhere while he complete his most well-known goal: the complete and utter destruction of humanity and Scarlet Witch will be the catalyst.

Thor will also be an important factor in creating Ultron. As we have seen in The Avengers, Thor’s lightning has the potential to power Tony’s armor beyond its capabilities and that the armor can also efficiently use it with little to no effect. Ultron may engage the Avengers in battle first and provoke Thor into using Mnjoir to power him up enough to overcome the power drain attributed to the armor constantly being used as opposed to Tony using it for relatively brief periods.

I also think that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s powers will come from the infinity gems, most likely the reality gem and the space gem respectively. This would explain Scarlet’s hex powers and Quicksilver’s speed powers without the mention of mutations. All and all, I think Age of Ultron could potentially surpass its predecessor in terms of story line and character development, as well as setting a proper lead in to the ultimate goal of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phases: Thanos and The Infinity Gauntlet.

As you can see, I’ve put some thought into this, but what do you think?
