Thou shalt be struck down with wonder at the ambitious TV project being lined up by WGN America. The network has teamed up with the Weinstein Company to produce Ten Commandents, a ten-part series event to be produced by Bruce Cohen (Silver Linings Playbook) and Bob Weinstein.

Each episode will focus on one commandment, with a different A-list director being lined up to helm each one. Five names have already been confirmed for the series and they are Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting), Lee Daniels (The Butler), Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot), Wes Craven (Scream) and Michael Cera (Superbad).

Has there ever been a more eclectic group of filmmakers?

Said TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein:

Each of these directors is acclaimed for their own unique brand of style and genre, so it’s clear that we can expect ten wildly different episodes from this series.

My money is on Wes Craven to nab Thou Shalt Not Kill.

Thoughts on Ten Commandments? Which other directors would you like to see involved?
