CBS has announced that it's giving a pilot order for Taxi-22, a comedy based on the French-Canadian show of the same name.

Taxi-22 was a passion project for James Gandolfini and there was even talk that he had been interested in taking on the lead role, which would have seen him play a misanthropic and politically incorrect NYC cab driver.

Scrubs scribe Tad Quill has been tapped to pen the pilot although there's no word yet on potential release dates or even if the show will make it to series.
