I know there has been some debate as to whether animated characters, rather, the actors that voice animated characters, should get award recognition. 1 of the major arguments with this is that acting involves movement of the body, facial expressions, body movements and reactions. With an animated character, all of those things are not your own. The actor involved is simply a voice.

I cry foul! Without a voice, how else would these characters come to life? Actors are what make these characters, not the other way around. I've put together a list of animated performances, where I thought actors deserved to be awarded some type of recognition for their work.

Ming-Na Wen as Mulan in, Disney's Mulan

Anna Paquin as James Ray Steam, in Steamboy

Deveigh Chase as Chichiro, in Sprited Away

Jeremy Irons as Scar, in Disney's The Lion King

Val Kilmer as Moses, in The Prince of Egypt

Christian Bale as Howl, in Howl's Moving Castle

Dustin Hoffman as Master Ugwe, in Kung Fu Panda

Robin Williams as Genie, in Aladdin

Billy Crudup as Ashitaka, in Princess Mononoke

Ellen DeGeneres as Dory, in Finding Nemo

I know there are a lot more roles out there that I am missing, but this is what I could think of off the top of my head. I need your help to create a bigger list! I think its about time these award shows start giving these performances its due! Add to this list by commenting below!
