Today brings news of the possible casting of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, in Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four, but the guy the studio has apparently earmarked for the role might just surprise you.
According to Movies.com, a source close to the production has claimed that Josh Gad, of Jobs and Frozen frame, is Fox's number one choice for the role.
Gad would certainly bring a warmth and humor to the part, which would be in contrast to Michael Chiklis's more sarcastic, muscular performance. It would be less clobberin' time and more jokin' around perhaps.
As of yet we've heard nothing official regarding The Fantastic Four casting, but Gad certainly fits the young, up-and-coming actor profile that the movie seems to be aiming for. Michael B. Jordan is pretty much a lock for Johnny Storm, while there are rumors that Miles Teller, Kit Harington and Richard Madden are all on the shortlist for Reed Richards.
But with the script for The Fantastic Four now completed, we should start getting official casting news soon.
