I find myself to be inspired by films that have a great story, and amazing characters.

At the 86th Academy Awards this year, there are plans for celebrating 75 years of The Wizard of Oz. As much as I love that movie, Gone with the Wind is also one of my favorites. It came out the same year as Wizard of Oz. It is a movie that has stood the test of time. I can't help but wonder why Wizard of Oz will be celebrated and not Gone with the Wind.

If you've never seen Gone with the Wind, you're missing out on a huge part of movie history. Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'hara are now archetypes, the rakish, debonair, devil may care man; and the flighty naive manipulative woman.

Its hard to say which movie is the best. They even shared a director in Victor Fleming. In my opinion, both movies had an impact on future films. One movie is not more important than the other. One may have won Best Picture, but both film's significance can be felt even 75 years later.
