Okay, that's it! Now I am officially convinced that some, if not most, people working in the entertainment business are envious of the overwhelming success The Walking Dead has enjoyed. And two of those people might very well be Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero, who are now the showrunners for the CW Network's upcoming new series, iZombie, according to Entertainment Weekly.

As for what in the heck this new show could possibly be about, here is its brief synopsis:

A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head

The first time I read this, I actually laughed. This appeared to be more of a parody than an actual T.V. series. So a med student who turned into a zombie "reluctantly" eats brains. Reluctantly??? She does so to "maintain her humanity." Maintain her humanity??? This has to be some sort of a parody! Oh, and the best part is that she apparently inherits her victims' respective memories as well, which actually makes a bit of sense now that I think about it, but is still very strange. And, she is evidently humane enough, and intelligent enough, to be able to solve cases by interacting with her boss and a detective, all to quell her delusions. Next thing you know, we will hear about how the zombie woman is only capable of utilizing Apply products for her investigations, hence the show's title, "iZombie." What has the CW gotten itself into?

But, who knows? Perhaps this could be the next big hit in zombie lore. Surely, some zombie enthusiasts will probably give it a chance; I mayyyyyyy give a chance. After all, I was almost unwilling to give The Walking Dead a chance when it first debuted, and now it has become one of my favorite shows currently running. Maybe all those crazy ideas outlined in the synopsis turn to be quite productive for the series, in general. Surely, the guys over at the CW are most probably fed up with hearing and reading about all the success AMC has garnered with 'TWD.'

One thing is for sure, Thomas and Ruggiero are going to have their hands full trying to get viewers to buy into the story they are trying to tell. With all the zombies on television over the past few years, it is absolutely imperative for the showrunners to make iZombie as unique as possible; easier said than done, obviously. Keep in mind that both Thomas and Ruggiero were also showrunners for Veronica Mars, so there is potential.

And one more thing, this show is based on a series of the same title by DC Comics. The guys over at the CW sure love the DC Universe, don't they?
