It has been reported and CONFIRMED that social network and Now You See Me star Jesse Eisenberg will play the infamous superman villain, Lex Luthor. The release was done by Snyder who said:

"Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions."

Very well indeed unexpected, I am sure nobody saw this coming, specially with the rumors of Brian Cranston and Joaquin Phoenix. Even though it is very unexpected I really really like this casting, Jessie not only has proven to be a great actor but also on the most recent roles we have seen him to take power and charge of the scene, he also pulls off the cocky-smart personality very well, something that will help his performance as Lex. Many are saying he is too young, but one of the best things that I liked about Smallville was that Lex and Clark were relatively close in age, which makes their dynamic and foil work much better; however, with him being so young I wonder if they might give us Lionel? He has the talent and the personality to pull off this character….though I am having trouble picturing him bald, hmmmmm.

Alfred, Bruce’s butler and father figure will be played by Jeremy Irons; this casting has been out-shinned by Lex’s but still is worth a talk. From this I think the Alfred in this universe will be very different from what we saw in TDK trilogy, he looks younger than the usual Alfred and also he looks tougher. With previous movies like: Simon Gruber from Die Hard 3 and Scar (does it need saying?) he can really carry power when he is present, so definitely I expect to see a very different Alfred and I also like it!

I knew that after all the drama from the changing of release date and the bad talk Gal Gadot is getting they were meant to give another part of the puzzle sometime soon, very glad it was this choice of casting. I really hope we keep with these news so the hype can last another two years or else it will be forgotten by the other blockbusters coming out from now until then.
