The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, has admitted that a potential crossover between AMC's hit show and Telltale's award-winning game is a real possibility.
In an interview with Wired, Kirkman revealed:
That door is always open for us, though whether or not we step through it remains a big question.
The game and show occupy the same Walking Dead universe and there have already been a couple of crossovers between the two. Glenn appeared in the first chapter of the game in a pharmacy in Macon, while on the show Michonne thought she'd tracked down the Governor to the same town.
There might be more crossovers to come, especially as showrunner, Scott Gimple, is such a fan of the game.
I certainly wouldn't want to spoil anything cool like that if we had it coming up. Scott Gimple, our showrunner, is certainly a huge fan of that game series as well and very familiar with it. That was a little nod to those fans, to let them know that we’re aware of the greater Walking Dead universe. It’s always fun to come up with those little things.
As a big fan of both the show and the game it'd be great to see more subtle nods and easter eggs — finding Daryl's arrows in a walker during the game, or Rick coming across an abandoned and bloody dairy farm in the show would be really cool.
