The How I Met Your Mother spinoff is ready suit up after casting an indie darling as the female lead.
Frances Ha star, Greta Gerwig, has signed on to play the titular lead in CBS' How I Met Your Dad, with a pilot on the sort-of spin-off set to lense in LA. As well as appearing in front of the camera, Gerwig will also produce and co-write the comedy if, as expected, it makes it to series.
The show will introduce a totally new bunch of characters with Gerwig playing Sally, "a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life." HIMYD will kick off with Sally about to split from her husband of one year and relying on her close circle of friends to help her through the breakup.
If I'm being honest, I had zero interest in this project due to the fact that How I Met Your Mother has been quite terrible for a couple of seasons now. But I'm a huge fan of Gerwig - Frances Ha was one of my favorite movies of last year - and the fact she's also writing and producing this show means that I'm suddenly a lot more invested in How I Met Your Dad.
