WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE REVIEW
So I just saw New Nightmare, and I have to say it is one of the strangest films I have seen to date! With all of the original cast acting as themselves, with the addition of Heather having a son, this film was truly weird.
This film was obviously just a big advertising campaign, but what more can we expect from Hollywood? - I don't want to give away any spoilers for those who haven't seen it, but if you are looking for a slasher film with nightmare imagery etc like the originals, then this film isn't for you. Freddy looked different, and really quite plasticky at times, but I didn't mind this as he could never look as bad as he did in the 2010 remake!
It did take a while to get into the film, as it was a bit of a slow start, but the last 45 minutes or so are action packed! A few eery scenes, but nothing that is going to really freak you out. I would have personally liked to have seen more from Robert, and I also thought that Freddy came across as a little bit of a wimp towards the end! All in all, it is a decent movie with good acting and a good ( yet weird! ) story line, yet I would not include it in the original Nightmare On Elm Street series.
It has definitely got my favourite Freddy kill though, with the "Hey Dylan, ever played 'Skin the cat?' " Worth a watch if you get round to it, a decent film but not as good as the original Elm street series.
