Inspired by the novella of the same title by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (which also inspired Darren Aronofsky's The Black Swan), the film is categorized in Wikipedia and IMdB as director Richard Ayoade's newest comedy. The Double is about a man's decline to insanity after encountering his doppelgänger.
What interests me beyond the premise (because I've developed a liking to psychological thrillers) is the casting. I'm excited to see Jesse Eisenberg take on a darker role for a change, though arguably his performance as Mark Zuckerburg in The Social Network can be considered breaking away from his usual comedic roles. But this looks like a step further into another side of himself---maybe an opportunity for Jesse to show people that the role of Lex Luthor was rightfully given to him.
Also, the production of this movie gave birth to one of the cutest celebrity couples since Marcus Mumford and Carey Mulligan: Jesse and Mia Wasikowska----but that's not important.
Although it's considered a 2013 film since it premiered in the 2013 Toronto Film Festival, it will be commercially released in April 4, 2014 under Magnolia Pictures.
This is my favorite trailer of The Double because the narrative about the two snakes fits the theme perfectly. I was particularly creeped out by the last 5 seconds. Enjoy the trailer and save the date!!
