Spoiler Alert: Read on at your own risk!
It looks like this might be a regular occurrence from the big-shots up at Marvel. Following the most recent of their films to hit theaters, "Thor: The Dark World" was the first to feature not one but two of the studios' signature after-credits scenes: One featuring the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy character "The Collector", and the last featuring Thor deciding to stay on Earth rather than Asgard.
Now, Marvel Studios has recently been running some test screenings to find audience reactions and get some feedback before the big premiere, in which they've received some of their highest movie ratings yet. Believe it or not, multiple test subjects are coming forward with some pretty amazing information! Here is the first of the reports.
The First Post-Credits Scene: The Twins
"But the thing that’s probably going to leave people talking the most is the post-credits stinger. They’re calling them “The Twins”, the brother-sister team of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, and they don’t look like any Marvel heroes we’ve met to date."
For those who don't know, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are two new characters that will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Having them in the credits, however, is information that has been out for awhile now, so I'm sure you're absolutely buzzing to hear about the possible scene number two... and this is where the big spoilers start hitting, and it's even referenced by the screen testers.
The Second Post-Credits Scene: The Distress Signal
Following recent rumors that there could be two post-credits scenes, the movie's soundtrack leaked, and features some pretty daring song titles:
- 1. Mission to Moscow (4:42)
- 2. Opening Titles (3:43)
- 3. Back in Training (3:03)
- 4. Fast and Fury-ous (2:24)
- 5. City Under Siege (5:38)
- 6. Friendly Fire (3:19)
- 7. The Pursuit of Justice (1:59)
- 8. S.H.I.E.L.D. Blows Up (1:23)
- 9. Civil War (3:51)
- 10. Alexander Pierce is the Red Skull (0:03)
- 11. The Falcon and The Snowman (4:12)
- 12. Going Down (2:32)
- 13. Old-Fashioned (1:37)
- 14. Comrades in Arms (2:47)
- 15. Finale (8:19)
- 16. Assignment Miami Beach (2:12)
- 17. The Date (1:46)
- 18. End Credits (15:41)
- 19. Quill’s S.O.S. (1:15)
In case you didn't notice some of the song titles, two of them are extremely important: "Alexander Pierce is Red Skull" and "Quill's S.O.S.". One, this a big confirming fact that Alexander Pierce is red skull, which I've theorized since the beginning despite the skeptics, but also 'Quill' is the last name of Guardians of the Galaxy's main character Peter Quill, who is lost/taken into outer space (depends on how the movie decides to tell the story as they like to switch thing up from the comics a lot).
"So yeah, Captain America 2 is pretty great. And there’s a big reveal that general audiences won’t see coming."
Whether the "Big Reveal" was meant to be Alexander Pierce secretly being Red Skull or it's Peter Quill's distress signal is unclear, but the fact of the matter is that the song "Quill's S.O.S." comes AFTER the "End Credits" theme. After End Credits. And considering the rest of the titles appear to go in order of the action occurring in the movie, this is definitely a huge lead towards another after-credits scene, which would be the second Phase 2 film of Marvel's to do so.
What would occur in this post-credits scene though? This is all speculation of course, but earlier this week I was analyzing the rumor of Mrs. Marvel being in Age of Ultron with rumored first look at the character in Guardians of the Galaxy, and this was my theory:
"Carol Danvers was a top-class pilot in the U.S. Airforce, was recruited to NASA (which will surely be changed to SHIELD for the film's sake) and was highly fascinated with the aliens when an alien device merged her DNA with their own, giving her superhuman powers. The fact that Peter Quill of Guardians of the Galaxy is also a part of NASA of the same time period may hint that his rescue team may be comprised of Carol and her flight crew."
I personally don't know what will happen, other than that Quill has sent some kind of call for help. But whatever DOES happen, this would most definitely be the easiest way to tease Ms. Marvel if she really is joining the Avengers. Surprisingly enough, the rest of the reports told us very little about the rest of the movie, but it did say that Sharon Carter was little more than a quick cameo with very little effect to the plot.
"Cap’s comic book love, is, in fact, nothing more than a glorified cameo (which is why Emily VanCamp is not factoring into the promotions so far)."
FUN FACT: Quill's S.O.S. was originally supposed to preview at the end of Iron Man 3, not Captain America 2. If things had gone as planned, all existing Marvel Phase 2 movies would have two post-credits scenes. Does this allude to two post-credits scenes forGuardians of the Galaxy and Age of Ultron
