If you're an action fan and especially a fan of action from the 80s or 90s you would think Cynthia Rothrock, the trailblazing, martial arts legend and actress would be a shoe in for the upcoming Expendabelles movie, the female version of The Expendables.
However, in a recent interview given to The After Movie Diner podcast Cynthia reveals that she was consulted by the two writers of the film to give them an idea about martial arts and action but was told they couldn't help with casting, despite there being a character in the draft of the script she read CALLED Cynthia Rothrock!?
In the same interview she reveals she was up for a film with Sylvester Stallone at one point and knows his brother Frank but was never called about The Expendables franchise.
All the news about this so-called Expendabelles is looking worse by the minute. The misogynistic, comedic leaning, farcical and derided storyline which caused immediate backlash online, the hiring of non-action people for scripting and directing duties and now the snubbing of one of the most awesome female action stars in existence (and arguably the most qualified of anyone next to maybe Pam Grier for this film).
