I love all comic book movies. Even the bad ones. But sometimes I have to question, what it would take for DC to compete with its soon to be rival.. Marvel. And I say soon to be because like Chris Hemsworth (Thor) said:
"We're just winning, aren't we? That's not really a rivalry."
Well for now I say.. To Mr Hemsworth. But for how long really... Soon DC will unveil its best attempt at a cross comic book movie rivalry that will dominate the world of blockbusters as we know it. I feel like soon, all of Hollywood will be consumed with the worlds of DC vs Marvel, to the extent that every other movie will seem like complete garbage, and a waste of studio time and money. And I'm okay with that.
But what will it really take to make that happen? Sometimes it seems that DC has already wasted it's best shot, in Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy. To me the best start would have been there, with Bale's (Dark Knight), Ledger's (Joker) and Hardy's (Bane).. Leading into Zack Snyders 'Man of Steel'
But is that really the truth...
As much as I would like to think, with 'Guardians of the Galaxy' coming, and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' 'The Avengers: Age Of Ultron,' etc on the way. What chance does DC have to really hold its own..?
Well we will just have to wait and see. But I do believe that like every studio. they are always watching and waiting for that right moment in time to unleash their "Ace in the hole."
And I have a feeling "The Hollywood DC Universe" is doing just that. No one is going to put forth that kind of money and effort to compete with the Juggernaut that Marvel has become, just to get blown out of the "universe." I as a fan, can't wait to see what kind of awesomeness they unveil.
Does DC stand a chance against Marvel? Let me know what you think?
