Huh. Apparently, Shrek Forever After - otherwise known as Shrek: The Final Chapter - might not actually be the final chapter in the Shrek franchise. Go figure...

Although the fourth movie in the Shrek franchise, Shrek Forever After, was said to be the last (I mean, the title alone is kinda a dead giveaway, right?), Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzeberg says our favorite green ogre may make a return for Shrek 5.

In a recent interview, the CEO stated that Shrek isn't dead, but merely taking an extended siesta:

We like to let them [the 'Shrek' movies] have a little bit of time to rest. But I think you can be confident that we’ll have another chapter in the ‘Shrek’ series. We’re not finished, and more importantly, neither is he.

Shrek became a global phenomenon in 2001, and was followed by three sequels, Shrek 2 in 2004, Shrek the Third in 2007 and Shrek Forever After in 2010. Well, the poor green guy already went through a midlife crisis in #4 so the next one will be either dealing with grandkids or something similar, I presume?

Although Shrek fans will no doubt turn out to see a fifth installment, it seems DreamWorks has squeezed every ounce of creative juice out of this fantasy universe to create an interesting movie. What do you guys think, is Shrek's story now complete? Or do you want to see more from Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona?

Shrek 5...
