Unbelievable! I know that it is scientifically possible for it to rain frogs, or for the sea to freeze over, but I had no idea that an actress could be GLAD she didn't get to lock lips with Robert Pattinson!
Whereas most girls would have merrily danced a stiletto clad merengue on a bag of puppies to land the role, Emily Browning has no regrets about turning down the part of Bella Swan. Escándalo!
While looking back on the missed opportunity the Pompeii actress reflected that;
People knew that ‘Twilight’ was going to be successful but I don't think anyone guessed that it was going to be as huge as it was. If that had been me, I might not even be acting anymore because just thinking about the way they were constantly hounded by people after that film makes me feel anxious. I don't think I could have handled that. I'm pretty happy with the choices and decisions that I've made. I don't really have any regrets in that sense
To be honest, I don't blame Browning and I can't help but wonder if Kristen Stewart would like to trade places with her instead.
Both Stewart and Pattinson have had high profile struggles with the pressure of fame after being catapulted relentlessly into the public eye and they have both been focusing on more Indie flicks.
Whereas the pair both seem to have a genuine respect for more independent filmmakers, I can't help but think part of the attraction is a slight bit of respite from the Paparazzi hounds that plague them.
Being famous looks like a right royal pain in the ass to me and I would definitely rather do it Daft Punk style and keep my anonymity. Alas, I don't think wearing a cyber helmet at all times is a viable option for those on the silver screen!
If you were an actor or actress, would you rather reach the top but deal with the pressures of the limelight or, would you be content in Browning's position?
