NOOOOO! Hugh Jackman thinks his Wolverine is on the way out!

The loveable Aussie's upcoming appearance in X-Men: Days Of Future Past this May will mark Jackman's seventh on-screen appearance with a pair of gargantuan, retractable, adamantium-laced bone claws as Wolverine. But, the actor's not convinced that he'll be around in the role for much longer.

I know, I know. It's a lot to take in. But change is inevitable, and even Hugh Jackman, who pretty much anchors the entire X-Men franchise, knows it. Talking about whether or not he thinks Fox have give any consideration to recasting Wolvie for, perhaps, a younger actor, Hugh commented:

I’m sure they had the discussion. They didn’t mention it to me, obviously! [Laughs] Look, that’s inevitable, man. Anyone who thinks they’re indispensable in this business is fooling themselves. But I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part. I never thought in a million years I’d get to play him seven times. Every day I walk on the set with the claws and the hair, I thank my lucky stars. I don’t take any of it for granted. To think that in a second version we’d have this cast and this director, and you guys don’t know the script, but I would say probably the best script of all of them, is pretty amazing. I think that’s why I’m still here. I’m sure by the way, that it won’t always be my decision to always be here. At some point, someone will close the door on me… [Laughs]

I'm having trouble imagining someone else in the role but, then again, Jackman wouldn't be as easily associated with the character if they gave the role to someone else! Eventually Hugh will become too old for the role...comic book characters always outlive their actors, unfortunately.

Also, while he's insanely fit - thanks to The Rock's advice about eating chicken, steak, and brown rice until you start to smell funky - Jackman's probably going to want to stop being Wolverine someday. In fact, when asked outright about a sequel last year, Jackman admitted that he is not ready to make a commitment to future X-Men movies just yet...

What do you guys think about a possible Jackman recasting? If replacing one Wolvie with another was a given, who would you want to see in the role? Hopefully they're not going to let Jackman quit until one of his movies bombs...and hopefully that movie won't be X-Men: Days of Future Past.
