According to an article with British Glamour, Chris Evans wants to take a break not only from being Captain America, but from acting itself.
"I think when I'm done with this Marvel contract, I'll take a little break from acting, with acting, you're one piece in a very big puzzle. It's like you helped buy a gift but you don't know what the gift is, so you come back and see the movie. Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's tragic. This process [directing], you're involved in every single decision. If I hadn't done it, I'd be really kicking myself. At the time, it was a daunting task for a number of reasons, but in hindsight it was the right move." Chris Evans
This will beg the question I've been asking a multitude of my articles. What will become of Captain America after Avengers 3?
In my article concerning the future of the Avengers franchise (GO TO LINK), I saw Cap leading us into a new era with a handful of the the new heroes introduced in the last two movies. But in my rundown of the Winter Soldier movie (GO TO LINK), I questioned whether Cap bites it in the movie. And my final thought is that he will probably not survive the first trilogy. AND with Evans wanting out, at least for a bit, this opens up a void either filled by a new actor to be Steve Rogers AKA the original Captain America or (a theory I'm leaning toward) introduce a new man behind the shield.
Only time will tell which they go with, but, according to Chris Evans, it's time to make some decisions.
