We've seen the trailers the stills before but MY GOD! Every time I see Angelina Jolie as Maleficent I'm blown away. This time, she looks looks like she's ready to occupy the nightmares of little children's dreams on the latest cover Entertainment Weekly.

Hell hath no fury like a woman horned - and this mag cover definitely proves it. But, this is the 21st Century, guys, and Disney's revamped, sympathetic origin story Maleficent shows a more two-dimensional look at Angelina Jolie as the wicked witch.

You thought that the wicked witch who curses Sleeping Beauty to prick her finger on a spindle and die after she is turned away from a royal christening is just the "queen of evil"? Think again... Brad Pitt's better half as the wicked witch will be a more sympathetic character than the original figure: her heart is hardened by the ruthless destruction of her peaceful forest by a marauding army, driving her to seek revenge. She later sees that her persecution of the invading king's daughter (Elle Fanning) may be the wrong move, as the child offers her best chance of a truce between kingdoms.

Jolie tells EW that unpacking Maleficent's past was the key to understanding how a good person can turn so very bad. She said:

The exercise wasn't how can we have fun with a villain? It was: What turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel? What could have possibly happened to her?

Jolie also admitted that her and Brad Pitt's daughter, Vivienne, scored the role of young Princess Aurora because "the other three -and four-year-old [performers] wouldn't come near me. It had to be a child that liked me and wasn't afraid of my horns and my eyes and my claws. So it had to be Viv."

What do you guys think of Maleficent so far? Are you already under Angelina Jolie's spell? Drop your comments below!
