Andrew Garfield insists it wasn't he who bailed on Batkid - it was the Oscars' producers.
Andrew Garfield was scheduled to appear in a short clip on the Oscars with Batkid, Miles Scott, the five year old cancer survivor who is currently in remission. Batkid made the news late last year when thousands of volunteers, city officials, businesses and supporters rallied, as part of a Make-A-Wish project, to turn San Francisco into "Gotham City", the fictional city in Batman, for one day.
We've heard that Garfield is blaming Oscars producers for devastating the 5-year-old Batkid, who was super excited about his surprise Academy Awards appearance with the Spider-Man star. Apparently the clip was axed at the last minute because "the piece didn't fit with the tone of the show".
Apparently the dress rehearsal went ahead on Saturday without a hitch, but a few hours later, Garfield was informed via email that it was going to be cut. We heard Garfield was everybit the superhero and to make it up to Batkid, he accompanied him to Disneyland on Monday, and even conducted a mini Oscars ceremony in Scott's hotel room. What a legend.
