When you think about the MTV Movie Awards, you might think they only go for stuff like Twilight and Transformers. But actually, they have made some reputable choices in their past. Back in the 90s, movies such as The Matrix, Menace II Society, A Few Good Men and even Oscar winning Best Pictures Titanic and Gladiator, won their top prize.

When the nominees for the 2014 film finalists were announced, Cate Blanchett (who just won her long overdue and deserved Best Actress Oscar for Blue Jasmine) was not among the nominees. Best Female Performance nominees include Jennifer Lawrence for The Hunger Games, Amy Adams for American Hustle, Sandra Bullock for Gravity and totally left field choice Jennifer Aniston in Meet the Millers. The fact that they went for A LOT of other Oscar films - including 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, and even Dallas Buyers Club, which made less money than Blue Jasmine by the way- rings false to me. Enough of the MTV voters for the nominations should have known about Blanchett's performance, especially if they also watched the likes of Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey, and Lupita Nyong'o- who are nominated.

ALSO - take a look at this past history for best actress Oscar winners and MTV: Best Actress Winners that were also nominated for the MTV Award for Best Female Performance-

Julia Roberts, Erin Brockovich

Halle Berry, Monster's Ball

Charlize Theron, Monster

Hilary Swank, Million Dollar Baby

Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line

Kate Winslet (for THE READER!!! I understand she won an Oscar for this, but MTV snubs Blue Jasmine, and remembers The Reader?)

Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side

Natalie Portman, Black Swan

Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook

Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence also won in their categories. Blanchett now joins Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard and Meryl Streep as 2000s Oscar winners with no MTV nod. Yes this may be over thinking, but this is the MTV Awards thread and I still think it's rather stupid they forgot her. Also Kidman won for Moulin Rouge the year prior, so even she doesn't really count.

This is a horrendous snub, and for a woman who just swept the ENTIRE awards season, what rock was MTV hiding under?
