If you're an internet and/or comic junkie, like me, then you've probably recently started seeing clips popping up online from 'Assembling a Universe', Marvel's new documentary that will take a closer look at how the groundbreaking, crazily ambitious Marvel Cinematic Universe was built.

But in case you haven't, let's fill you in on all the Marvel goodness. From the official site:

Marvel Studios has pioneered and broken box-office records around the world, creating a cinematic universe unlike any other in pop culture history through its blockbuster films. Beginning with "Iron Man" in 2008 and continuing today through "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC and the theatrical release of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" this April, the Marvel Cinematic Universe presents audiences with some of the most groundbreaking and dynamic storytelling that brings an unprecedented vision to the world of entertainment.

In this exclusive primetime documentary special, audiences will be taken further into the Marvel Cinematic Universe than ever before, offering viewers a front row seat to the inception of Marvel Studios, the record-breaking films, the cultural phenomenon, and further expansion of the universe by Marvel Television.

This is absolutely a must-see event for fans of the MCU, or even people just curious about the process of making blockbusters in general. Along with interviews with various cast and crew and Marvel Studio execs, the documentary will also be showing behind-the-scenes footage from every Marvel film. But what's most exciting by far is the new footage being unveiled from [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973) and the colorful [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) along with sneak peeks at both [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](series:722469) and [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035). Yes, you read that correctly. Your eyeballs will be treated to exclusive footage from all of them.

Between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the monster deal Marvel recently inked with Netflix, and this new documentary, it seems as if the MCU is poised to take over television the way it has dominated at the box office. What's really interesting to me is how Marvel's devastating financial straits in the 80s and 90s actually paved the way to the film industry juggernaut it is now. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all.

So clear your evening and set your DVRs, folks. Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe airs on ABC this upcoming Tuesday, March 18th, at 8/7pm CST.

It's Marvel's world. We're just living in it.
