So who's up for a new Ghostbusters? Anyone?
Yeah...ever since the beloved Harold Ramis died, I can't see another one in the works. It just seems like it'd be missing something without the nerdy scientist Egon. I mean, he taught me everything I needed to know about fringe science before it was a thing! Yes, I know Ghostbusters is fiction, but isn't it funny how some of the terms that seemed comically-induced are actually used today?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic?
Dr. Egon Spengler: I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Could be race memory stored in the collective unconscious. I wouldn't rule out clairvoyance or telepathic contact either.
Dr. Egon Spengler: let's say this twinkie represents all of the psycho kenetic energy in the New York area. According to this morning's sample it will be a Twinkie, 35 feet long and weighing approximately 600 pounds.
Man, just reading those quotes and walking down memory lane is enough to make me sad. But the big buzz is that production for Ghostbusters 3 is starting at the beginning of 2015, so it's definitely in the works. Even bigger of a buzz is...wait for it...
Ivan Reitman has refused to direct the film since Ramis' passing. He's stepped down indefinitely as he doesn't believe the franchise should continue without Egon. Now who's going to direct the film? Michael Bay (God forbid)?
I agree to an extent, that without Ramis it wouldn't be as good as the original, but would it have been even if he were there? It's been 25 years since the last film and there would have to be some major overhauls to the plot. I'm not sure what the premise will be, but maybe Ghostbusters 3 can do what Star Wars Episodes I-III didn't (or couldn't).
Who would you like to see direct the third film?
