This won't be about how much I hated the "big reveal" in [Iron Man 3](movie:24391), but speculation on whether Marvel ever has plans on including the real Mandarin character in any future films, such as [Iron Man 4](movie:886190) (if Robert Downey, Jr. renews his contract) or even an Avengers film.

In Iron Man 3, Ben Kingsley played an actor named Trevor Slattery who impersonated the Mandarin to scare the world. I will say that Kingsley's performance as both Trevor and as the Mandarin was something I actually enjoyed about the movie. Unfortunately, like so many of you, I really wanted the real guy to do battle with Iron Man...and I might just be in luck.

For those of you who have seen or heard of Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King, you know it's a short film about Trevor's time in prison after the events of Iron Man 3. However, it's not just about Trevor because there's a twist in the end. WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!

A man interviewing Trevor ends up revealing that he's going to break him out of prison and, following Trevor's confusion, the man says:

You see, there's somebody who wants to meet you. You don't know him, but you took his name...and now he wants it back.

Please, superhero Gods, let this be an Easter Egg that Marvel is going to introduce the real Mandarin in a film in the near future.

The real Mandarin is a man from mainland China, who discovered an alien's skeleton and downed spaceship, and studied it for years until he mastered its' science and learned to wield the ten power rings that energized the ship. This gave him the power to become a conqueror, and his lust for technology eventually put him in the path of Iron Man. The Mandarin realizes that Iron Man is his primary obstacle in achieving world domination, and thus the feud between the two began. Along with his power rings, he's also a genius and a skilled martial artist.

The Mandarin is renowned as Iron Man's archenemy and he absolutely needs to be in a future installment. Unfortunately, it is unclear at this time if Robert Downey, Jr. will reprise the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in another solo venture, so if he does go up against the Mandarin, it will most likely be with the Avengers at his side. Of course, I'm pretty sure Marvel is very intent on Thanos being the villain in Avengers 3, and most of the actors in the series will have to negotiate a new contract if they want to make a fourth installment, or another solo film. Chances are, we won't see Mandarin for at least a while. But I am looking forward to Thanos!

Who would you like to see the Avengers or any of the solo heroes go against? Comment your thoughts and your favorite villains.
