Disney's animated sensation Frozen is now officially bigger and more successful than The Dark Knight, Star Wars 1: The Phantom Menace and Jurassic Park, as the all-singing, all-dancing spectacular has become the 12th highest grossing movie of all time.
Just take a second for the enormity of that statement to wash over you.
To date, Frozen has banked a ridiculous $1,049,743,000, but with the movie still screening in theaters abroad, there's the real possibility the movie could break into the top ten. To do that it'd need to beat the $1.066 billion made by another Disney movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
However, if Frozen fails to make it into the top 10, the filmmakers can still celebrate a job well done. The movie is the first Disney animation to break the $1 billion barrier at the box office, it won a stack of awards - including a couple of Oscars - and spawned a soundtrack that is sure to be played at kids' parties for the next decade. Well done Disney. Well done indeed.
Are you surprised by Frozen's success or is it well deserved?
