Why so Serious?

A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away we had a game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Since then the Star Wars universe has grown extensively, and changed hands to Disney, who are reorganizing the Star Wars into Canon or non Canon. This means some things may be still considered Star Wars Facts, and the others now put into a category of fan fiction (albeit everything non lucas created really is fan fiction.)

Although Lucasarts (the gaming company) is no more the legend lives on, the Universe created by the Knight of the Old Republic which featured story of the Republic thousands of years before Episode I, is still in the mind of gamers (especially since the profitable Old Republic MMORPG is still live.) So it remains to be seen if the new [Star Wars: Episode VII](movie:711158) Star Wars Episode VII will be including one of the most anticipated planets in the Star Wars expanded Universe. And as news of the filming of Star Wars in particular sites in Iceland has leaked I would like to suggest the theory of filming of Korriban other than Hoth. In Star Wars Episode V all the Hoth scenes were filmed in Norway, during winter time. If the rumors of filming in Iceland are true then the filming would possible begin shooting as soon as next month. If you haven't checked your calendar lately we are going into Spring in the northern Hemisphere so Hoth may look a lot more summery. However, if we go with theory that they are scoping out locations for Korriban, springtime in Iceland may be more convincing.

Korriban is the Sith Burial planet, a barren rock, a grave yard for the most powerful Sith Lords. The planet is described as cold, dry, mountainous, with dry river beds and canyons. From this alone I could see Iceland's rocky volcanic landscape as reason enough to choose this as a filming site. If the villain of the film was to have some start going back to the roots of Sith Culture may make sense. This would be a grand gesture of expanding the Star Wars universe and bring in some expanded universe lore, which greatly enhances the star wars Sith History. There are various parts of Iceland but in my opinion Hoth would not be the choice planet to recreate in this environment.
