Not long ago, rumors emerged that Captain America himself, Chris Evans, might be taking a break from acting, perhaps in order to fulfill his new found love for directing.
Earlier this month, the actor clarified that he currently has a six-picture deal with Marvel, which includes Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel's The Avengers and April's upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He is also returning as Cap in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America 3, which has been set for release on May 6, 2016, leaving one more movie left in his contract, which will likely be The Avengers 3.
More recently, Evans has been getting specific with his calculations, saying that as he sees it, he should be finished with his role as Cap by 2017!
We can do this out loud... (‘Avengers 2’) will shoot till August. I wouldn’t be surprised if for all of 2015, we didn’t do a movie. I bet by 2017, I’ll be done. That seems so far away.
Evans recently changed career paths by directing his own romantic comedy, 1:30 Train, while he has also been appearing in more cerebral and original movies, such as Joon-ho Bong's Snowpiercer. With this in mind, I could potentially see him ditching Captain America after his contract, although ultimately that might be depend on the dollar Marvel offers him on its termination.
What do you think? Would you like Evans to continue after six Marvel movies, or is it time he moved on to something else? Let me know your opinion below.
