Holy Gee Wilikers Batman! That's right bat freaks, the universe's greatest side-kick is in competition, with himself, or Dick Grayson's predecessors! Well however you want to look at it, we're going to analyse who the best Robin was. The Boy Scout 'Do Good-er' Dick Grayson; the troublesome terror Jason Todd, and lastly and certainly not least, the whizz-kid Tim Drake. Robin was a character created so that more young kids would take an interest in the Detective comics with someone being there to relate with, and lighten up the darker setting of the lonesome Dark Knight. The character then received wide spread praise and was adapted many times over. However, here I have chosen three of what I think are the most important ones. But, we will also give both Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne honorable mentions. So, without further ado, let's jump into this 'Battle for the Cape' or shall we call it a 'Boy Wonder Beatdown' or an 'Avian sidekick brawl'? Well, I'm out of ideas, so let's get started!

Dick Grayson

Here we have Dick Grayson the original Robin. Dick was raised in the circus where both him and his parents were acrobats, hence him being the most acrobatic and limber of the robins. His parents were murdered by mobster Tony Zucco, and he was taken in by Bruce Wayne billionaire, and then later taught by The Dark Knight. Dick's Robin was more so like Bruce himself in the aspect he had watched both of his parents die as well. With this type of familiar connection, i feel as if this created a strong bond between Dick and Bruce where a sense of understanding set it in. Dick over time sought out his own individuality, and eventually had a falling out with the bat. After leaving bats he moved to a city of his own, Bludhaven, and adopted the new identity of Nightwing, given to him by his idol Superman. Now, lets talk stats... Dick Grayson, as said before was the most acrobatic Robin of the title, his training began when he was younger and brought back to the cave by Batman after a night of plotting revenge for the death his of parents. Dick is also a great detective only second to bats himself, along with his different martial arts fighting styles he uses his brain as much as he uses his fists.

Jason Todd

Here we have Jason Todd..... The robin that may have killed bats psyche, filled him with dreaded guilt, but before all that lets talk about how he became robin. Jason was the product of a dead beat dad and drug addicted mother. At an early age he began looting cars for parts, and then later exchange for cash. After his mother died of an over dose, he continued his trade and came across maybe the holy grail of automobiles....... THE BAT-MOBILE!!!!!!!! Batman caught Jason in the act of theft and tried to help the boy. When the option of putting him into a boarding school failed he thought that maybe he can make him a hero of the night before he became one of the very criminals that are his prey.....How did that turn out bats? Anyhow, Jason's robin was very aggressive, and utterly reckless. Jason later finds out the drug addicted woman he once knew was not his real mother. He goes on a journey to find his mother which lands him in Ethiopia, where he tracks her down. His biological mother, who is being blackmailed by the joker, then turns him over, and in the end they both end up bound in a warehouse with a ticking time bomb. Batman was too late on arrival and came after the bomb at gone off, killed by the Joker. In the rubble bats was able to recover Jason's body and so the iconic photo of comic book legend was born....

The trial of Jason Todd robin ends with that moment however, it was not the end of Jason Todd but.. That's another story!

Let's Talk about Jason Todd's skills: Jason was no where near the acrobat of Dick Grayson, he had street smarts and used his sense of right or wrong to justify his actions. Jason was also known to have picked up arms against villains and used weapons to combat criminals, which was against the bats code of conduct. As robin he had the opportunity to wear Dicks hand me downs, which carried various batarangs, gas pellets, and grappling hooks.

Tim Drake

Tim Drake, the robin that Batman needed... Tim Drake was first introduced to the bat family really before it was the bat family. While at a family outing with his parents he met Dick Grayson along with the other Flying Graysons, Tim admired Dick and was their to witness the death of his parents. Later on down the road Tim recognized a move made by robin, while Batman and Robin were doing there thing on the television, only done by none other than Dick Grayson and then deduced that robin had to be Dick. Tim noticed a change in bats, after the death of Jason Todd, that was darker and a little bit more ruthless. Tim chased down Dick Grayson, now donning the Nightwing name, and convinced him that Batman needed a robin. Dick was convinced by Tim's theory, but ended up being captured along with the bat, so it was up to Tim to save them both.

Tim's skills: Tim was an excellent martial artist taught by both Batman, and Nightwing. He was highly intelligent and had a great understanding of computers and technology. Being a protege of Batman he obtained master detective skills, and became a great strategist.

Honorable Mentions

Stephanie Brown

Damian Wayne

Alright guys and gals that's it! Tell me who your favorite robin is... If you're wondering my favorite Robin was Dick Grayson, because he was much like Batman himself, and he goes past Batman in my opinion because he doesn't let the night life take over his real life, so if you think of it I like Dick (were all grown-ups here) more so for his transcendence from Robin and seeking his own way. I hope you liked the article and found it to be an interesting read. Thanks for checking me out!
