I will give you guys a list of three movies that I watched recently that surprised me how much I liked them. This list is in no particular order so I’m not saying one movie was better than the other. These movies are movies I watched with no expectations walking in.

Here’s the List:

John Carter

Directed by Andrew Stanton

Starring- Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe

I had lots of fun watching this movie. It reminded me of Star Wars and I love Star Wars, even the prequels. Lots of critics slammed this movie and it bombed at the box office and because of that I didn't watch it when it came out. Then I was at home bored one day and I looked on Comcast On Demand and saw the movie and I was like why not. It’s not an Oscar worthy movie but its a nice shut your brain down and watch popcorn movie. Also, Bryan Cranston has a small part in the movie and I almost didn't recognize him. I recommend it.

Pitch Perfect

Directed by Jason Moore

Starring- Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson

Ok so I was at work and a friend of mine came in and said “dude I just watched Pitch Perfect and its a really good movie” I looked at him and was thinking he out of his mind. When pitch perfect came out all the girls were raving about it and I thought it was just one of those lame girly love story movies. To my surprise it wasn't and I loved it. After a few days I decided to pop it in and watch it and the movie was so good. I caught myself singing some of the songs and I also liked the relationship between Beca and Jesse and the singing performances were very hype. Rebel Wilson stole the show with her comedic timing. It was such a big surprise. Go out and watch it.

Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn

Starring- Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston

I use to be one of those guys who every time a girl would mention Ryan Gosling I would just laugh and say that guy is a queer blah blah blah. Then I was at school one day and another friend of mine told me he had went to go see Drive in theaters and said it was really good and I asked him who was in the movie. He said Ryan Gosling and I just laughed and said yea right. A year later everyone is just buzzing about how Ryan Gosling is such a good actor and then I decided to give Drive a try. I’m so glad I did the movie has a nice artsy tone that I really liked and the different themes that were playing. Ryan Gosling knocked it out the park with his performance and the performances by Bryan Cranston and Ron Perlman was just the cherry on the top. The action scenes were brutal but very necessary and its one hell of a ride. Its one of my favorite movies of 2012 and I Highly, Highly recommend it.
