Recently, with all the hype about 'Batman vs. Superman' and the Justice League films being cast, (slowly but surely) there's been a lot of talk about Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson being cast as [Aquaman](movie:264237). To this end, Johnson recently tweeted:

Myself & DC have agreed on a character...extremely complex, well known (but never played) and a pure BAD ASS MF ;)

I'm very excited to see who Johnson will portray, but I digress here, because this article isn't about The Rock. No, it's about the man I'd personally choose to play Aquaman... Liam McIntyre.

He's best known in America as the actor who took over the title role in the Starz series, Spartacus, in seasons two and three, after the original Spartacus actor Andy Whitfield died. Though he took some warming up to for me, because I was so wowed by Whitfield's performance, I eventually grew to love McIntyre's portrayal as Spartacus even more. My two obvious reasons for wanting him as Aquaman are these:

1. His ability as a warrior

McIntyre proved, in every episode, his ability to not only look the part of a gladiator, but also to move like one as well. His speed, ferocity, and skill were things to be impressed and amazed by in the series and so I know he can easily become the warrior that is Aquaman.

2. His ability as a leader

Spartacus was a man who became a slave, who became a gladiator, who became a rebel, who became a leader. When McIntyre took over the role, it was just in time for the series to show Spartacus' rise as the leader of a rebel army against Rome. Every episode, McIntyre had to make you and everyone else in the show believe that he was not only intimidating, but more than capable of leading an army, and he did a great job every time (although Manu Bennett's character would disagree). He can easily be a king again, this time joined by superheroes. Maybe, if they decide to keep Manu Bennett as Deathstroke, they'll meet again but on the big screen, and as enemies.

Liam McIntyre is my absolute, undoubted choice for the king of Atlantis. I only hope that DC will see that by the time that Justice League comes around.

What do you think? Who do you want to see join Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot as the remaining members of the [Justice League](movie:401267)? Leave your comments below.
