Word from GEEKS OF DOOM says that, due to massive re-shoots, the [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) reboot may be pushed all the way back to November or even December. Before we go any further, though, let me emphasise that this is still in rumor mode and unofficial.

No one knows exactly why these "extensive reshoots" are happening besides the fact:

"The first trailer for this didn't go down very well with the hardcore fans, with the new origin story involving Shredder and April O'Neil's father coming in for the most backlash."

Could it be that the Turtle's franchise is feeling the heat of growing buzz surrounding the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY? Another casualty of the Marvel/Disney juggernaut? Or possibly it is simply "the usual padding out of the special effects/action scenes" that goes on in post production and they wanted a reason to push it to the Holiday audience and their kid/family base?

Or maybe they feel the need to alter the story a bit; especially their origin story. Apparently, the 'backlash' made it back to the studio and/or Bay and the re-write is on! Do you think they needed to rewrite the origin?

Was the rewrite of the Turtle's origin necessary?
